Electric Daisy Carnival Overview

Your first step is learning more about the Electric Daisy Carnival, commonly referred to as EDC, which is an electronic dance music festival now held annually at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This year the event is scheduled from May 17th-19th.

This music festival typically features electronic dance producers and DJs, and electronic music which includes techno, drum, and bass. You’ll also find plenty of new events and art installations this year, like the expansion of the Pixel Forest display, which is a whimsical land where art and technology collide.

Don’t forget the lineup of fantastic performances that includes talented artists like Zedd, Allison Wonderland, Seven Lions, and hundreds more.

You can also enjoy Hotel EDC, a hotel experience at Resorts World’s Las Vegas Hilton, which includes special event packages that include wellness sessions, concierge service, and more.

What to Know Before You Go

As with all Vegas attractions, it’s essential to know the ins and outs of this event before you arrive. You’ll also need to decide if you’ll visit the festival for just a day, or if you want the entire three-day experience.

Let’s take a closer look at the essential festival details you need to know to get into the festival safely and easily.

Things to Remember

Remember to put your safety first. If you’re going with a group, figure out various meeting points and make sure it’s easy to get into contact so you can stick together during your time.

You’ll want to prepare for rain or shine, and without a doubt, dress for comfort. Comfortable sneakers and lightweight clothing are key. Remember you’ll be walking around the festival for most of the day, and it’s easy to get dehydrated and overheated.

Staying hydrated is crucial, especially when you’re out all day in the heat. You’ll have plenty of hydration stations to choose from and you can get a reusable water bottle at the merch booth.

Hours and Venue

While this may seem like a simple step, if you’re not from Vegas, these details can become overwhelming the closer you get to the event. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is at 7000 N. Las Vegas Blvd. You can check out this map for specific directions.

The opening ceremony is on the first night of the festival, which starts at 5 pm on Friday, May 17th. The festival hours are from 7 pm to 530 am each night of the festival.

Entry and Security

To enter the festival, you must be at least 18, and 21 and over to purchase alcohol. You’ll need a government-issued photo ID like a driver’s license that clearly shows your date of birth. You can also use a passport or a foreign government-issued driver’s license with a color photocopy of your passport.

However, if you have a foreign ID and want to purchase alcohol, you’ll need to show your actual passport at the venue.

Take this time to ensure you have a valid driver’s license that has not expired. The EDC festival will not take any form of ID like:

  • School IDs
  • Birth certificates
  • Expired IDs
  • Temporary IDs
  • Photocopied IDs except as noted above

Overall, if you live in the US, the easiest thing to do is bring a valid driver’s license.

Buying Tickets

Keep in mind that EDC is a popular event and tickets often sell out, so you’ll need to purchase your tickets well in advance. If you plan to attend next year, bookmark the EDC site so you can buy them as soon as they’re available.

You can use credit and debit cards to purchase tickets, and tickets are limited to four per person.

Three-day passes are available and you can also buy packages like the Bottle Service package which gives you access to all the VIP areas in the festival. You can also look at Experience Passes that allow you to explore nine different areas of the festival, including interactive art installations.

Take your time to look through the packages and figure out what works best for you.

Amenities are always essential to know about before you arrive. EDC has food and beverage stands as well as mobile food vendors throughout the festival. You can also find vegan and vegetarian options.

You’ll also be able to find plenty of free water stations and samples of various products like hydration sticks. You can pay with credit, debit, Apple Pay, and Android Pay.
