About Goldie

Goldie, the breakout superstar of drum’n’bass, stands out as the genre’s most visible figure and one of its most revered artists. In an era when many electronic music producers remained faceless, he distinguished himself with a vibrant personality rooted in hip-hop, graffiti culture, jazz, and soul influences. His ambition, akin to classical composers, set him apart. Collaborating with notable producers like Rob Playford and Optical, he envisioned ideas beyond the norm, pioneering techniques like timestretching with early singles such as “Terminator” (1992). His debut album “Timeless” (1995) achieved wide acclaim, followed by the ambitious “SaturnzReturn” (1998). Goldie’s celebrity status grew, seen in film appearances and reality TV, culminating in a 2016 Order of the British Empire appointment. Despite a lengthy hiatus, his 2017 album “The Journey Man” and subsequent projects, including ventures outside of drum’n’bass, attest to his enduring influence. Celebrating his legacy, he remastered “Timeless” in 2021 and released a remix set in 2023.
